Principal's Message

Hello SRCHS community,

I am excited to start my second year here at Six Rivers. We have some exciting opportunities this year, and we look forward to continuing to work with all of our community partners in order to provide the best possible educational experience for our students.  As we embark on our year, there are a few staffing changes and opportunities that we have to look forward to this year.

First, we are thrilled to welcome back our previous instructional aide, Tylor Davis in a new capacity this year.  She has finished her teaching credential and is joining us in a .2 position as a Study Skills teacher.  We wish her all the best this year and are excited that we get to see her return for this new endeavor in her career.  In addition, Clover Schinke will be taking on the reins of our Senior Project class and we are anticipating more community involvement, college trips and career exploration.  We can’t wait to see the structure and organization that she will bring to this position.  We are also excited to announce that Meghan Froloff will be spearheading our very first Leadership elective class at Six Rivers and look forward to the increased service learning opportunities for our students.  Lastly, it is always sad to see our team members move on from Six Rivers, and we would like to take this opportunity to recognize the years of service of Al Giddis, who after 12 years retired from his second career as a Math aide.  We will continue to look for his replacement, but it will be a tough role to fill.

In MTSS news:  Although Melanie Zapper will be mostly working at Arcata High this year in the Fine Arts department, she will still take on a large role within our MTSS team and will be working on a deep dive analysis into our absenteeism numbers this year.  In addition to that, we are welcoming a new Psych intern to our team, Rachel Worm, and a Psychology fellow from Cal Poly Humboldt, Kaelyn Trapsi, who will both be rounding out our MTSS team.  We plan to have them facilitate our Check in Check out procedures with our students to alleviate our teachers load.

Here’s to a productive and prosperous 2023-2024 school year!

If you have any questions, my door is always open, so please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
