SRCHS 2021-22 Bell Schedule: Please note the updated schedule graphic is linked in this email. As AHS joins us on a block schedule for the first time, the week will be different than it has in the past. Six Rivers will continue to have the same start time, lunch time, and end time as AHS. To see a traditional view of our bell schedule, please follow this link. You can view these schedules on our website.

Student Schedules: We hope that by now your student has received their physical schedule in the mail and or has accessed it through StudentVUE. Here are a couple of important notes:

  1. If you note an error or have a compelling reason to make a change in a schedule, please contact Six Rivers at 825-2428 or email me at [email protected] to alert us. If a class is not already full, we will make the requested change. Making changes after the launch of school is much more complicated, so please call this week.
  2. If your student decides that Independent Study is the preferred option for this school year, please contact us as soon as possible to learn more or launch the process.

New Student Orientation will take place from 4 to 6 pm on August 26th. Orientation activities will be conducted outside and will be orchestrated with the help of our Pirate Council. In addition to "ice breaker" activities, students will tour the campus and be introduced to Six Rivers Staff. Orientation activities will last until 5:30. From 5:30 to 6:00 pm a question and answer session with parents will take place. Details for new students and our Pirate leaders are:

  • All participants will be masked and activities will take place outside. Students will not enter classrooms but will be guided around campus and see where their classes are located.
  • Six Rivers staff are scheduled to introduce themselves at the beginning of the event. Please arrive prior to 4:00. Student leaders will be on hand to welcome students as they arrive.
  • Activities are intended to connect students and provide information that will help them navigate on-campus learning.
  • Activities are scheduled to conclude at 5:30. At that time I will take any questions on the steps outside of Six Rivers between rooms 703 and 704.

Technology: Here are a few key pieces of information regarding Technology for the upcoming school year:

  • Device Checkout - All students will be provided a new google Chromebook during the 2021-22 school year to use in class and take home. In addition, a protective sleeve will be provided. If you have not already done so, please return your old device when picking up your new laptop. Check-out will take place in room 703 at the following times:

Athletics: Fall sports are in full swing and coaches have communicated with their teams practice times moving forward and here are a few pieces of information. If you would like to join and try out for a team or have questions regarding sports, please contact Arcata High School at 825-2400. Coaches and athletic directors will be sharing information regarding COVID. At the moment the following protocols exist:

  • Beginning the week of August 23, we will be rapid testing our unvaccinated student-athletes twice a week (tests are available for our vaccinated athletes as well)
  • Masks must be worn by players, staff, and spectators for indoor sports (such as volleyball)
  • Masks must be worn by staff, players on the sidelines, and spectators for all outdoor sports
  • Look for more information from our district in the next few days regarding max capacity for both indoor and outdoor events

Communication: Over the past few weeks, we have appreciated families reaching out to us letting us know when they are not receiving emails, texts, or calls from us. We want to make sure that you are receiving all of these communications when we send them. If you are still not receiving communication from us please take the following steps:

  1. For email, please check your spam folder as some of our families have found our communications there.
  2. Contact Amber Pegg at [email protected] and she will go over the information we have on file to make sure it is all correct (which is usually the root of the issue).

As we juggle the challenges of this unique time, my admiration for our Six Rivers staff and students grows. Our community has risen to the occasion time and time again in the past two years. I look forward to pulling together once again as we navigate this upcoming year.

It is good to be a Pirate!
